Matext vs Chaos Cosmos
Cosmos is the asset library that comes with V-Ray, Corona, and Enscape. Matext is a portable materials factory for when you are not locked to Chaos — or when you need a custom surface.
The short version
Chaos Cosmos is the library bundled with V-Ray, Corona, Enscape, and the rest of the Chaos seat. For a lot of architecture offices that is “free with the license.” Matext is not trying to out-bundle Chaos inside those viewports.
If Cosmos already has the tile and you never leave V-Ray, stay there. If you need the same material in Blender, a Torch variation, or a Studio brief Cosmos does not stock, that is Matext.

When to pick Matext
You leave Chaos, you need Organic photography, you need Torch or Studio, or Cosmos simply does not have the surface.
When Cosmos is the better fit
The whole office is V-Ray / Corona / Enscape and the Cosmos asset is good enough. Convenience wins. We will not pretend otherwise.

Is Matext a Cosmos replacement?
No. Cosmos is a perk of the Chaos seat. Matext is a materials product.
Can I use Logic maps in V-Ray?
Yes. They are standard PBR.
Why would I pay if Cosmos is included?
