Poly Haven is excellent free CC0 textures, HDRIs, and models. Use it when free is enough. Matext is a production factory with owned photography, Logic packs, Torch, and Studio.
The short version
Poly Haven (and the Texture Haven line people still search) is one of the best free CC0 sources in 3D: textures, HDRIs, models, no drama. We are not going to talk you out of it when the free asset is good enough.
Matext is what you use when the job needs a photographed library you pay for, a complete Logic set, a Torch variation, or a Studio brief — and someone has to stand behind the rights.

When to pick Matext
The free map is not enough: you need Organic consistency, Logic completeness, Torch, Studio, or a commercial relationship.
When Poly Haven is the better fit
The shot can use a CC0 surface or HDRI and you should not pay. Start there. Upgrade when the job outgrows it.

Can I mix Poly Haven HDRIs with Matext materials?
Yes. We do not sell HDRIs.
Is Texture Haven separate?
It folded into Poly Haven. Same family.
